Ohishi Distillery is located on the near the source of the Kuma river, which is renowned for its superior water quality, and was founded in 1872 with a focus on sake and shochu production. Much later, in 2016, they put rice whisky on the map when the US began importing their whiskies, which were made from the wrong product (rice) to be called whisky in Japan, but what was allowed in the US as a whisky classification, and was a perfectly unique product for that market.

This whisky itself is the "tokubetsu", or "special", or "best" release from the distillery, and was released as one of the original 3 products to the US market. It is a blend of 27-year-old, 10-year-old, and 7-year-old Ohishi Sherry Cask whiskies, that clearly shows in it's exceptionally smooth profile. Only 1,500 bottles were produced of this exceptional whisky. We get notes of dried fig, raisin, tobacco, and custard in it. Let us know what you find!
